Neonicotinoids are the standard choice for sucking pests - Imidacloprid 30.5% SC, Imidacloprid 17.8% SL, or Thiamethoxam 25% WG are all effective. Dinotefuran 15% + Pymetrozine 45% WG and Pymetrozine 50% WG are also specifically effective on whitefly and BPH where neonicotinoid resistance is a concern.
Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG is widely used for caterpillars and fall armyworm. Chlorantraniliprole 0.4% GR is specifically registered for rice stem borer and leaf folder. Emamectin Benzoate 1.5% + Fipronil 3.5% SC covers both caterpillars and stem borers in a single combination product.
They differ in Azadirachtin concentration: Neem Oil Based EC (0.03% / 300 PPM) is the entry-level grade; Neem Seed Kernel Based EC (0.15% / 1500 PPM) is mid-strength; Neem Kernel Based EC (0.3% / 3000 PPM) is stronger for more severe pest pressure; and Neem Seed Kernel Based EC (1% / 10000 PPM) is the highest-purity grade for intensive or export-market use. Higher PPM = more Azadirachtin per liter, so dilution rates and use-case differ accordingly.
Repeated use of the same chemical class over many seasons allows pest populations to develop resistance to that class. Rotating between neonicotinoids, diamides, avermectins, and neem-based actives slows this resistance build-up and keeps each product effective for longer.
